CornerStone Medical is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support a State Hospital in Austin, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician looking for a stable weekday assignment, competitive pay, and the opportunity to work in a state healthcare environment.
Position Details
- Pay: $30.00/hour
- Location: Austin, TX
- Contract: 3 months minimum
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- 7:30 AM–4:30 PM OR
- 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
- Training: Candidates must be available for 9 consecutive days of training, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
The Pharmacy Technician will work under the direction of a pharmacist and support the safe and efficient operation of the hospital pharmacy.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining medication inventory
- Preparing medications for pharmacist final verification
- Delivering medications to patient care areas
- Conducting medication room and area inspections
- Assisting with manual and automated medication repackaging
- Providing technical support to pharmacy staff
- Performing pharmacy-related clerical duties
- Assisting with medication distribution and inventory processes
- Providing guidance and assistance to other staff as needed
- Following all applicable hospital, HHSC, and Texas State Board of Pharmacy policies, procedures, regulations, and professional standards
- Exercising appropriate initiative and independent judgment within the scope permitted by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
Candidates must have:
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical assistance work
- Ability to successfully complete a urine drug screen
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
- Ability to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check
- Availability for the full contract and required training schedule
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
- Pyxis MedStation
- Medication room inspections
- Manual medication repackaging
- Automated medication repackaging
- Hospital or institutional pharmacy operations
