Position Overview:
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dynamic dermatology team. The ideal candidate will provide both clinical and administrative support to ensure the highest quality of patient care. This role is perfect for someone passionate about skincare and medical aesthetics, with strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist the dermatologist during medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatologic procedures
- Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments following OSHA and clinic protocols
- Take and record vital signs, patient history, and chief complaints
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care
- Administer injections, patch tests, and topical treatments as directed
- Manage specimen collection and prepare samples for lab analysis
- Apply and remove dressings and sutures
- Monitor and document patient progress and communicate concerns to the provider
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR)
- Process prescriptions and prior authorizations
- Assist with billing, insurance verification, and patient documentation
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA, AMT, or equivalent accreditation required
- Prior experience in dermatology or a specialty clinic preferred
- Proficient in EMR systems Mod Med, EMMA preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Fine motor skills for performing procedures and documentation
